What can go wrong

BMW has decided to initiate the safety recall “Replace the Onboard Charger” with regards to the certain BMW NA5 models. On affected vehicles the onboard charger will be replaced. If there is a reduced insulation there is an extremely low risk of a dangerous voltage on the vehicle chassis. The fault is not detectable by the customer.

The fix

On affected vehicles the onboard charger will be replaced.

Is a specific car affected? A recall lists models and build dates, not individual vehicles, so these pages cannot tell you whether one car is included. Enter the registration on the DVSA vehicle recall checker on GOV.UK, or give the vehicle identification number (VIN) to the manufacturer or one of its dealers. Buying used? Ask the seller for proof that any recall work was done.
