What can go wrong

It has been determined that on Vito models with rotating front seats (SA codes SB5/SB6) the front seats can loosen the wire fixings under the seats when being rotated. Should the wiring harness be damaged in the most serious case this could lead to deactivation of the thorax bag or to unintentional triggering of the thorax bag in the case of a short circuit caused in the process. A disarmed thorax bag is indicated via the SRS indicator lamp. The reason for this is the technical concept which allows for flexible cable harness installation depending on the seat mounting.

The fix

Since the beginning of June 2017 the series has protected the wiring from jamming and damage by using an optimized mounting clip. We will recall and bring the installation of the cables under the swivel seats on the affected vehicles up to the optimized current series status.

Is a specific car affected? A recall lists models and build dates, not individual vehicles, so these pages cannot tell you whether one car is included. Enter the registration on the DVSA vehicle recall checker on GOV.UK, or give the vehicle identification number (VIN) to the manufacturer or one of its dealers. Buying used? Ask the seller for proof that any recall work was done.

Recall wording is DVSA's, with capitals and punctuation tidied and American spellings such as tire, center and windshield given in British English. On this page we also replaced a word that reads as a rating or an endorsement with a plain one. We list a recall when its make and model match a car or van family with at least 1,000 DVSA MOT tests from 2022 to 2025, and when the maker of the vehicle issued it.
