What can go wrong

Affected vehicles will have the manufacturer's DISTRONIC PLUS system fitted. In the event communication between this system and the ESP is lost the systems responses such as engine torque may be adversely affected for the period of the communication loss. The braking system will not be affected though more effort may be required.

The fix

On affected vehicles update the ESP software.

Is a specific car affected? A recall lists models and build dates, not individual vehicles, so these pages cannot tell you whether one car is included. Enter the registration on the DVSA vehicle recall checker on GOV.UK, or give the vehicle identification number (VIN) to the manufacturer or one of its dealers. Buying used? Ask the seller for proof that any recall work was done.
