What can go wrong
Subject vehicles are equipped with incorrect engine oil software leading to the oil temperature not being detected over a certain threshold. This could lead to the oil pan deformimg due to high engine oil temperatures which in turn could lead to oil loss onto the road surface.
The fix
The remedy involves reprogramming the engine ECU which will give the driver a timely warning regarding possible high oil temperature.
