What can go wrong

The steering control ECU programming for the Variable Gear Ratio Steering system can cause the steering wheel to become off-centred by a maximum of up to 90 degrees under certain limited circumstances. If the driver has fully turned the steering wheel and then very quickly attempts to turn it back to the centre position the steering wheel may temporarily become off-centred.

The fix

Recall the vehicles that are likely to be affected to replace the steering control ECU.

Is a specific car affected? A recall lists models and build dates, not individual vehicles, so these pages cannot tell you whether one car is included. Enter the registration on the DVSA vehicle recall checker on GOV.UK, or give the vehicle identification number (VIN) to the manufacturer or one of its dealers. Buying used? Ask the seller for proof that any recall work was done.
